29-Year-Old Groom & His 28-Year-Old Bride Who Are Both Virgins Wed In Lagos (Photo)

Unbelievable virgins: 28-year-old bride weds 29-year-old groom in Lagos intact

It may sound unbelievable, yet it happened in Lagos State recently at the wedding ceremony of Pastor Oghale Ighele, 29, and Dr Clementina Agbate, 28, which took place at Marcillina’s Place, GRA Ikeja.

There were doubts and reactions from guests when the officiating Minister and Presiding Bishop of Holy Spirit Mission, Charles Ighele revealed that both the bride and groom were virgins at their ages till they got married.

But shortly, many were convinced, after hearing directly from the couple. The development was seen as a rare feat, especially at the present day computer age where many are seen to disvirgin between the ages of 15 and 20.

Speaking with Sunday Sun, the bride, who was said to have joined the Holy Spirit Mission (Happy Family Centre), at the age of two, did not mince words on saying that she was a virgin and that it was a vow she made while growing up.

The groom also expressed hapiness and fulfilment for getting married according to God’s directives. “God is my srength, and one thing that made it possible is the christian upbringing I had and I thank God and my parents for that.”

He disclosed that there were temptations from many areas, but said that counselling helped him to win the battle and brought him so far. “While I was growing up, my parents kept hammering on the need for me to keep myself and never mess up and I heeded their advice. I tried to make friends who would not deceive me into having sex before marriage. I was also fully involved in church activities and I thank God for guiding me.”

The bride, fulfilling the vow was one of the best things that would happen to her. “I am happy and fulfilled marrying as a virgin, though it was not an easy thing to do. I took the decision of remaining a virgin till I get married when I was a teenager. Meanwhile, I grew up in a Christian home. So, I had to keep myself.”

She said marrying as a virgin at 28 was challenging, as temptations and trials became enormous through out the period. “It was not easy for me. I was severally tempted by my lecturers while in the university. Friends also tried to lure me into fornication and men asked me out. In fact, I went through so many challenges. But what guided me was God and my principle.”

Agbate advised those that are yet to marry to have faith in God because, at the end, there will surely be successful and happily married.

Also, commenting on the couple, one of the officiating ministers who joined the couple together , Bishop Charles Ighele commended them for keeping themselves till they got married, despite temptations.

The bishop noted that what the new couple did is exemplary and not common in the present day computer age.

He explained that it only takes strong faith in God, commitment and self discipline for one to remain a virgin for up to 28 and 29 years of age.

Bishop Ighele who is the father of the groom said the youngman was not the only one among the his children that married as a virgin.

“That is who my children are . The one that wedded last year in United States of America at 25 was a virgin. I make them my friends. As I speak, there is a girl we adopted as our child, she never had sex before. She is now in her final year in the university. When she was in secondary school, she met my wife and said, mummy, I have feelings towards one boy. You know that it is not easy for a child to meet her mother and say such thing. The reason is that we created an atmosphere of friendship with our children, that is why they were able to tell us what they are passing through. The warning I used to give to my daughters was that, if they mess up sexually, I would not like them to mess up sexually. But, in case they misbehave and get pregnant, I will take care of that child. In fact, they saw the love more than the stick. So, with that, when they are tempted, they say no because they do not disappoint me.”

The General Overseer admonished parents to redefine their values and pass them to their children. “Parents should be able to know the values they want to pass to their children and the last generation. I pray at least once a day for my children and the last generation. I have redefined my values, so, I try to pass on positive values to them. What do I stand for? What do I want to gain? What do I pass on? At the end, we will not see the buildings we put up . What is it? So, I advise parents to think about the future and have fear of God in all they do, so that the future generations will be better.”

As one who is from a polygamous home, Ighele explained that though he did not see love between his parents, he made up his mind that his marriage should be different by loving his wife as the Bible said couples should do. As a Christian, I try to keep faith with the Bible, that is what made many of my church members to have respect for me. They know that I will not bend the rules, even if my child is involved.”

He also charged the new couple to become friends first, love and cherish each other and always stay together in unity. “The newly wedded couple should among other things, be friends first. There is need for love between them. I and my wife usually go on holiday to enjoy ourselves. I am 66, while my wife is 64 and we are still romantic. We hug, kiss and say to each other, I love you. That puts fire into love, otherwise, it will go down.”

Ighele also warned the couple to avoid functional marital relationship where the man will always give order in the home.” In many homes today, you hear “is my food ready?” “I want to take my bath, is the water ready?” Daddy pay school fees, electric bills, house rent and so on. The man plays the traditional functions, the same with the woman. In that situation, the couple have not much to do with each other, except when they to go to bed, and the next thing is pull, you said what? I said pull, which is a command”

National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Archbishop John Osa-Oni in his own admonition told the couple to make their home a pacesetter where people will go to learn.

He also charged them to speak, talk, be in one bedroom and not two. “They should not copy what our parents did in those day where the had separate rooms and beds. They should also share one tooth paste and cut their clothes according their size. The new couple should be content and not kill themselves for someone.”

Osa-Oni who is also the General Overseer of Vinyard Christian Ministries told the couple to always pray together, “as a family that prays together, stays together. Also, they should endure and tolerate. By so doing, they will have a joyful marriage.”

In the same development, the Presiding Bishop of City Gate International Church, Robertson Akwazi extolled the virtues of the virgin couple for making the church and their families proud.

He said such is what is expected from every believer of the gospel and called on the couple to continue holding their faith, so that their marital relationship will flourish.

The Built with Bitcoin Foundation announces charity partnership with Bitcoin Magazine

Bitcoin buyers can score deals while giving back during the Bitcoin Black Friday campaign

The Built With Bitcoin Foundation, a humanitarian organization devoted to creating equitable opportunity by providing clean water, access to quality education, sustainable farming, and humanitarian support—all funded by Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, has announced that they will be the sole charity partner for Bitcoin Black Friday, an initiative hosted by Bitcoin Magazine, the oldest and most established source of news, information and expert commentary on Bitcoin, its underlying blockchain technology and the industry that has been built up around it.

Bitcoin Black Friday is known to the bitcoin community as the biggest single day of spending for Bitcoin merchants. This year, Bitcoin Magazine is adding a charitable component, reestablishing the day as one for not only finding the best deals, but for giving back.

The Bitcoin Black Friday website will host deals and one of a kind experiences with some of the biggest names involved in the industry, exclusively for bitcoin buyers. Some unique experiences include a yacht party with Bitcoin OG Max Keiser and a Metallica Concert VIP Meet & Greet with Bitcoin podcaster Peter McCormack.

Notable merchants will include Arculus, Bitdeer, CryptoCloaks, FOLD, and dozens more. A portion of proceeds will go directly to the Built with Bitcoin Foundation and will fund school and community projects in El Salvador.

The campaign’s goal is to raise a minimum of $20,000 in BTC to support the Foundation’s efforts to provide access to education, technology, and resources to Isla Tasajera, a local community in El Salvador.

Specifically, the donation will be funding the repairs of the school, the creation of a technology center inclusive of laptops and internet capabilities, as well as the purchase of a boat that will be used by residents for groceries, commuting, and transportation.

The Built With Bitcoin Foundation has made a big footprint in the African region, building six schools (two in Rwanda, two in Kenya, and two in Nigeria) with more on the way. Additionally, the Foundation has developed multiple water projects, and cultivated dozens of farms. The Foundation’s goal is to build 100 schools and communities by 2030 around the world, with its next projects taking place in West Africa in 2022.

Ray Youssef, Executive Director of Built with Bitcoin, said, “We’re honored to be the charity partner for Bitcoin Black Friday. Bitcoin allows us to execute our mission to make an impact in countries all over the world.

"The blockchain for philanthropy not only provides complete transparency for donors, but also minimizes the exchange costs and delays associated with traditional banking. It’s because of these core principles of the Foundation that we are able to deliver maximum impact to humanity and unlock the true power of crypto for philanthropy.“

Yusuf Nessary, Director of Philanthropy of Built With Bitcoin, said, “Our Foundation exists because of communities like those in El Salvador who have welcomed change and embrace economic development. These projects are not important because of the structures that we build or repair, but because of the lasting impact it creates for the people of the community. People are the most important part of our work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue our mission with the support of Bitcoin Magazine.”

Mike Germano, Publisher, Bitcoin Magazine, said, “We wanted to reimagine the way people thought about shopping on Black Friday. When deciding on a charity partner for our Bitcoin Black Friday campaign, we immediately thought of the Built with Bitcoin Foundation. We are thrilled to have them as our exclusive charity partner this year, and support their efforts in bringing resources to the people of El Salvador.”

Bitcoin Black Friday sales will run from Friday, November 26 through Sunday, December 26. Visit www.bitcoinblackfriday.com for more information.

VAT: Lagos, Oyo, Rivers, FCT Subsidise 33 States

Oyo’s VAT revenue higher than total collection of 17 northern states

•South West generates more VAT revenue than other 5 zones

•North Central generates least revenue

By Sulaimon Olanrewaju

LAGOS, Oyo and Rivers states, with the highest Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue, subsidise the other 33 states with respect to VAT as the trio take far less than they generate while the other states earn more from the sales tax than they contribute into the federation account.

Nigerian Tribune’s analysis of VAT revenue generation and allocation between January and August 2021 revealed that although Lagos State generated N429.203 billion, the state only got N139.587 billion (32.52 per cent) of VAT revenue generated.

In the same vein, Rivers State generated N90.293 billion within the same period but got N46.270 billion (51.24 per cent), while Oyo State generated N64.646 billion but was allocated 45.136 billion (69.8 per cent).

Nigerian Tribune findings also showed that the revenue generated by Oyo State in the period under review is more than the total amount generated by 17 of the 19 northern states.

While the VAT revenue generated by Oyo State within the period under review was N64.646 billion, the combined VAT revenue of Benue (N1.268 billion), Kogi (N3.286 billion), Kwara (N3.471 billion), Nasarawa (N2.495 billion), Plateau (N5.208 billion), Niger (N3.723 billion), Adamawa (N3.689 billion), Bauchi (N5.309 billion), Borno (N3.442 billion), Gombe (N4.028 billion), Taraba (N1.756 billion), Yobe (N9.445 billion), Jigawa (N3.375 billion), Katsina (N3.738 billion), Kebbi (N1.284 billion), Sokoto (N4.978 billion) and Zamfara (N598.33 million) states stood at N61.174 billion, which is N3.472 billion less than the amount generated by Oyo State.

Similarly, Rivers State generated N90.293 billion, which is higher than the N85.666 billion combined revenue generated by Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Plateau, Niger, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Kano and Zamfara, 18 of the 19 northern states within the period under review, while Lagos State generated N429.203 billion, which is more than the N339.722 billion generated by all the 19 northern states and the FCT.

In the period under review, the South-West geopolitical zone generated N518.856 billion, which is more than the N499.084 billion generated by the other five zones and the FCT.

North-Central zone with N19.451 billion had the lowest VAT revenue in the period under review.

The South-East had N23.548 billion, the North-East generated N27.75 billion, North-West had N56.727 billion, the South-South had N135.814 billion, while the FCT generated N235.794 billion.

The South-West had the largest share of the VAT revenue shared during the period under review as it got a total of N276.493 billion but that is just 53.28 per cent of the N518.856 billion it generated.

North-West zone got the second highest allocation of N219.813 billion.

This is 387.49 per cent of the N56.727 billion generated. South-South got N162.598 billion, which represents 119 per cent of the N135.814 billion generated by the zone.

North-East zone, in the period under review, was allocated N130.413 billion, which is 469.9 per cent of the N27.75 billion it generated.

The North-Central got N129.154 billion, representing 663.9 per cent of the N19.451 billion generated by the zone, while the South-East got N109.629 billion, representing 465.5 per cent of the N23.548 billion it generated during the period under review.

Zamfara State, which generated the lowest amount of N598 million during the period under review, had the fifth highest allocation of N35.716 billion within the same period. This is 5,972.6 per cent of what it generated.

Similarly, Benue State, which generated N1.268 billion, got N24.527 billion, representing 1,934 per cent of what it generated.

Kebbi State got N22.162 billion, which is 1,726 per cent of the N1.284 billion it generated, while Imo State got N25.111 billion, amounting to 1,293.7 per cent of the N1.941 billion it generated.

Under the current VAT sharing formula, the Federal Government gets 15 per cent of the total revenue. Fifty per cent goes to the states, while 35 per cent is shared by the 774 local governments.

In addition, each state keeps 20 per cent of the VAT revenue derived from it, while 30 per cent of the VAT is allocated based on the population of the states, and 50 per cent is then shared equally.

The sharing formula has come under serious attack in recent times as, at least, three states are seeking the intervention of the courts to effect a change of the current arrangement so that states can keep the VAT revenue they generated.

On Monday, August 9, 2021, the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt and presided over by Justice Stephen Dalyop Pam, in Suit No. FHC/PH/CS/149/2020, filed by the Attorney General for Rivers State (plaintiff) against the Federal Inland Revenue Service (first defendant) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (second defendant), declared that it is the Rivers State government and not the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), that should collect VAT and Personal Income Tax (PIT) in the state.

The court also issued an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Attorney-General of the Federation from collecting, demanding, threatening and intimidating residents of Rivers State to pay to FIRS, personnel income tax and Value Added Tax.

But the FIRS approached the Appeal Court to stop the execution of the judgment.

The Appeal Court, in an interim order given on September 10, 2021 ruled that both Rivers State and the FIRS should maintain status quo on the issue of VAT collection.

Not satisfied with the order, Rivers State approached the Supreme Court, praying it to set aside the Appeal Court’s ruling and asking it to disband the panel of the court which gave the interim order, and order another one to be constituted to hear the case.

"Standard For Accountability": World Bank Hails Kogi's Financial Statement

World Bank hails Kogi's 2020 Audited Financial Statement

The World Bank has commended the Government of Kogi State on its 2020 audited financial statement, describing the financial report as a standard for transparency and accountability in the public sector.

The Bank made the commendation in a letter sent to the Accountant General of Kogi State, dated November 21, 2021.

The letter, which was received by the state Accountant General was signed by the States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability Programme (SFTAS) Task Team Leader, Nigeria Country Office, Western and Central African Region, Deborah Hannah Isser.

SFTAS is a $750m programme to reward States for meeting any or all of nine indicators that demonstrate improvements in fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability.

The nine indicators are an offshoot of the previous Fiscal Sustainability Plan of the Federal Government where States were to be rewarded for meeting up to 22 targets.

The World Bank had supported the Federal Government to incentivise the States to properly achieve the 22-point Fiscal Sustainability Plan, which has now been redesigned as the nine Disbursement Linked Indicators under SFTAS.

The SFTAS programme is part of efforts of the Federal Government to further enhance the transparency and accountability in the use of public resources through the implementation of the Open Government Partnership, which Nigeria signed to in July 2016.

The latest World Bank letter is also coming about a month after the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) acknowledged the improvement of Kogi State on its ICAN’S Novel Accountability Index (ICAN AI).

The institute said the State moved from 12th to 7th position in its 2019 assessments.

Guys, Can You Date This Kind Of Girl? Should I Continue With Her?

Good day everyone
I’m not good at writing so pls bear with me anyhow you see this.
I’m a young man 24yrs old and my girlfriend 22, I just finished my undergraduate studies and about going for Nysc, While my girl is still in school but she’s already into some online business making good and enough money for herself money that ordinarily she can use to start up a good life. She does not know how to spend which I have complained severally, I don’t really blame her due to the fact that she gets money at any given time she needs it. She can be paid 100k today and be broke in next 3 days calling me and disturbing me for recharge card and all sort of things she can actually do herself. I normally give this to her but it’s now becoming worse and unbearable no matter the amount she gets, she’ll spend it for you in less than one week with no reasonable thing to show for and you’ll be amazed.

To cut it all short, I’m still unemployed but I normally do some little jobs that brings me cash just change compared to what my girl makes in a month. Let me add that she’s a very supportive girl, helped me during my school when I had issues.

I’ve talked and talked now she tags me a nagging guy, and that I have poverty mentality by telling her to have some savings not for me but for herself

I’m just tried and cos she’s not changing keeps doing same thing
I’m even scared of taking the relationship to the next stage.
Cos if things fall out for her
I’ll be the one to take care of her excessive and exorbitant spendings. And I’m just a guy who’s starting life

Pls I need advise Via Nairaland https://ift.tt/2v3ULVL

Ogun, Nasarawa top states with highest COVID-19 vaccination

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) says the states of Ogun, Nasarawa, Oyo, Osun and Ekiti have been ranked top in ramping up of COVID-19 vaccination.

The NPHCDA Executive Director, Dr Faisal Shuaib, made the disclosure on Monday in Abuja at the National Briefing of the Presidential Steering Committee ( PSC) on COVID-19.

We have been monitoring how states have been intensifying the ramp up of COVID-19 vaccination. We have ranked them according to performance.

”As of today, the top five states are, 1st: Ogun State, 2nd: Nasarawa State, 3rd: Oyo State, 4th: Osun State and 5th: Ekiti State.

“We will continue to provide you with daily updates of how governors of states are leading the effort to ensure their citizens are fully protected with COVID-19 vaccination,” he said.

On the Dec. 1, 2021 deadline for vaccine mandate for civil servants, Shuaib said that starting from Dec.1, Federal Government employees would be required to show evidence of being vaccinated against COVID-19, or a negative PCR result done within 72 hours before being allowed into their offices.

“To further ease access to COVID-19 vaccines by government employees, we have also commenced office-to-office vaccination in Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

”What this simply means is that employees who are yet to be vaccinated will find a vaccination site around their offices to register and get vaccinated.

”This will help in preventing the excuse of having to leave their place of employment to a distant vaccination site,” he said.

According to Shuaib, from time to time, civil servants will be picked at random to check or assess their COVID-19 antibody titre to detect persons who may have fraudulently acquired the vaccination cards without vaccination.

”Anyone who has been found to have fraudulently obtained the vaccination card without vaccination would be handed over to the law enforcement authorities.

”The vaccines are free and are available at sites close to you.

“We have also engaged and are collaborating with the Nigerian Military, Police and the Para-Military institutions in the establishment of mass vaccination sites in their locations around the country.

”We will also be assisting with the deployment of our vaccination teams to all sites identified by these institutions,” he said.

Shuaib called on Nigerians and residents to take the COVID-19 vaccination.

He said that every COVID-19 infection gave the coronavirus a chance to mutate, adding that being vaccinated helped prevent variants.

”At this point, we would also like to address the myth that says if one has had the COVID-19 disease and has recovered from it, they are protected and do not need to get vaccinated.

P” This is false as studies have shown that if you have had COVID-19 before and are not vaccinated, your risk of getting reinfected is more than two times higher than those who were infected and got vaccinated.

“We are aware that people hesitate to get vaccinated against COVID-19 for many reasons ranging from personal views and fears to logistical problems of getting to vaccination sites.

“But waiting too long to be vaccinated allows the virus to continue spreading in the community with the emergence of new variants.

“Severe COVID-19 can be very dangerous, so the sooner you get vaccinated, the sooner you are protected,” he said.

The NPHCDA boss said this was a period of intensive drive to protect Nigerians against this new variant and indeed a 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the Agency was not taking anything for granted and not compromising on safety and standards, but fully monitoring all adverse events following immunisation (AEFI).

”But as I have always appealed, we need the support of all Nigerians.

”We need every vaccinated Nigerian to appeal to their family members, their loved ones, their neighbours, and members of their communities to get vaccinated so that we are all protected.

”It is indeed a collective responsibility,” he said.

According to him, this is a clarion call to those who had yet to be vaccinated to hurry up and take advantage of our mass vaccination campaign to receive COVID-19 vaccines.

Shuaib said that those who had received their first dose should also endeavour to go and get their second dose on their due dates, for full protection.

NCDC analysing travellers from countries with confirmed cases of Omicron

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said it was analysing outbound and inbound travelers from countries with confirmed cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19.

NCDC’s Director-General, Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa, said this at the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) briefing on COVID-19 on Monday in Abuja.

Adetifa noted that the agency would continue to sequence positive samples from the cases and ensure quick communication with the public.

“The NCDC will continue to work with the Federal Ministry of Health Ports of Entry team to ensure that inbound and outbound travellers are tested and compliant with protocol.

“Towards the Christmas period, please do avoid all non-essential travel and take the precautions, which will, indeed, save even just one life.

“Your life is important and so are our loved ones and strangers,” he said.

Adetifa said most Nigerians would be thinking of the new variant and the potential impact it would have on travel, holiday plans and the national response till date.

He reiterated the need for public health and social measures in the country, adding that COVID-19 was real and harmful.

Adetifa said in spite of the high recovery rate, COVID-19 had caused painful and needless loss of lives, particularly among the elderly and more vulnerable.

He said its worldwide spread and ongoing devastation, resulting in full Intensive Care Units in some countries; case surges, reintroduction of lockdowns and more, was indication enough that it was not business as usual.

According to him, Nigerians must re-emphasise the priority of wearing face masks.

“I know there is pandemic fatigue.

“It has been very long, over 20 months since the declaration of the pandemic, and this can cause fatigue to anyone.

“I commend Nigerians for bearing the pandemic as they have done, and continuing to make ends meet and continue life with hope amid hardships.

“However, I also acknowledge that we can and must do much better with adherence to public health and social measures,” he said.

Adetifa said the reason why a face mask was worn was to protect oneself from the potential air droplets that might be transmitted from person to person when speaking, singing etc.

He said sometimes it was difficult to tell when someone was infected as the virus could, at times, be present without symptoms.

“For hand hygiene, proof of its importance reaches as far back as Ignac Semmelweis, who is considered the Father of hygiene.

“High maternal mortality was reversed through his observational studies.

“These studies revealed that unwashed hands of doctors who had done autopsies on cadavers and then proceeded to deliver children of mothers in labour were responsible for high mortality rate.

“This was over two centuries ago.

“We now have even more advanced scientific knowledge to detect viruses which can be transmitted through improper hand hygiene,” he said.

The director-general said, those privileged who had the means, should make sure they used clean water and soap to stay safe.

“Please, please, do use this simple means of keeping your health intact.

“When you frequently touch surfaces, shake others people’s hands, etc, do wash your hands or use alcohol-based hand sanitiser if water is unavailable,” he said.

Adetifa encouraged Nigerians to be their brothers’ keepers, look out for those without access to clean water, soap and hand sanitisers, educate and where possible, support them with needed supplies.

Regarding large gatherings without social measures, he warned that those must stop as they pose a huge risk to the lives of loved ones with co-morbidities, older loved ones, strangers whose complications they were unaware of and of course, the gains the country had made so far in the pandemic.

Adetifa added that the COVID-19 Health Protection Regulations 2021, signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari earlier in the year were, indeed, valid.

He noted that the COVID-19 vaccines were available.

“We will not fail to let you know that they are safe and effective and that they do reduce the risk of severe disease and eventual death.

“Where you find out that you have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, please do safely, ensure that you are tested.

“We will continue to ensure that laboratories are sustained, available for testing and conveniently accessed,” he said.

The News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Omicron variant was first identified from testing done on Nov. 9 in Botswana on travellers from West Africa.

It was reported to the World Health Organisation (WHO) on identification of cases among a cluster of young unvaccinated people in South Africa on Nov. 24.

While this variant has so far not been detected in Nigeria, a number of cases have now been reported in the UK, Israel, Botswana, Hong-Kong, Germany, Belgium, Italy and counting.

However, no deaths have been attributed to this new variant yet.

A total of 126 genomes of this variant have been detected globally and published on GISAID. (GISAID is a global mechanism for sharing sequencing data).

The SARS-CoV-2 variant has now been designated a variant of concern (VOC) and named; Omicron by the WHO, as advised by the independent Technical Advisory Group on SARS-CoV-2 Virus Evolution (TAG-VE).

Gov Fayemi approves N115m car loan for Ekiti civil servants

Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has approved the disbursement of N115 million as car loan to 166 workers in the state’s service.

Mr Akin Oyebode, the State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Ado-Ekiti.

According to him, the sums ranging from N80,000 to N1.5 million will be disbursed to the beneficiaries of the loan scheme depending on their grade level.

Oyebode disclosed that benefiting officers on grade level two to six would get N80,000, while those on grade level seven to 10 would collect N250,000.

He said beneficiaries on grade level 12 to 14 would take N500,000, those on grade level 15 to 17 would get N750,000 and recipients on consolidated to get N1.5 million.

The commissioner expressed the commitment of the Fayemi’s administration to the welfare of workers in the state.

He described the governor’s approval

for the disbursement of the loan to workers as a fulfilment of his promise to improve the wellbeing of workers in the state.

Oyebode promised that the state government would continue to fund loan schemes for its employees in spite of paucity of funds.

“The general economic downturn and dwindling allocation from the federation account as well as the effect of the recent global pandemic would not be a stumbling block in this regard,” he said.

Oyebode urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the money and cautioned them against spending the loan on things that would not add value to their lives.

The commissioner also charged the benefiting workers to reciprocate government’s gesture by rededicating themselves to their duties and support the administration’s efforts toward developing the state.

Women, this is why you should learn to initiate sex more in your relationship

It's not every time you wait for your partner to make the first move.

Not only has it been claimed that the average male thinks of sex at least once in a day, men have also been known to initiate sex twice as much as women do!

Also a lot of women do not feel comfortable initiating sex, because of social conditioning that has led them to believe that being the sexual aggressor renders them a ‘slut’ or a ‘whore,’ and for people with such mindset, to initiate sex is to be subjected to shame and ridicule.

These reasons have somewhat made it ‘natural’ that men should be the ones to always initiate sex and get every happy hour started.

For women in relationships and marriages, though, you can’t afford to think this way.

Some women can't initiate sex to save their lives. [Credit: Shutterstock]

Letting your man initiate sex all the time, and refusing to take the lead is not good enough. You need to learn to take the bull by the horn. And this is not something to begrudgingly do occasionally or once in a blue moon.

ALSO READ: Kevin Hart and his wife’s relationship with pornography prompts questions on its true effects on marriages

You have to become comfortable enough to do this as many times as possible.

One reason for this is that while men have no qualms making the moves on you for sex, it gets to a stage where they can’t decipher if you really want to do it, or if you are just doing it because they want to do it.

And really, this could douse the sexual spark in that marriage or relationship. Sex is better when both partners have a confidence that that’s what the other person wants at that moment.

If you want a relationship that not sexually one sided, you should know how to initiate sex with your partner. [Credit Madamenoire]

Secondly, men also want to feel wanted. It is mind-blowing for many when they are chased and openly desired.

So, when you leave sexy messages on the bathroom mirror about what awaits him in the bedroom later at night and actually make the move on him, it does a lot of good for that sex life of that relationship.

Again, covertly/actively asking for sex from your partner is good for his ego and the overall happiness in that relationship or marriage.

While every woman is meant to know this, it is more important for women in relationships and marriages as it could be the difference between having a healthy sexual life and having one that’s lukewarm and boring.

Apostle Okikijesu's Prophecies About Wike, Nnamdi Kanu, Sanusi, Igboho, Tompolo

Apostle Paul Okikijesu of the Christ Apostolic Miracle Ministry has released a series of prophecies concerning Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, former Emir of Kano State, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, former Niger Delta militant leader, Tompolo and Yoruba Nation campaigner, Sunday Igboho.

While he warned Governor Wike against fomenting trouble through his words and actions, the cleric said Igboho, Kanu, Sanusi and Tompolo may be killed.

He also claimed some powerful persons were out to destroy Wike’s government and the economy of the state.

“Thus says the Lord: inform the Governor, whose name is Wike not to foment trouble or commotion; instead, he should be filled with the wisdom during this period,” he said.

“He should also be filled with the understanding of I the Lord; because the people that he underestimated may cause his downfall at any time.

“He should put his trust completely in I the Lord, and be cautious about his speeches/statements during this period. Satan is making plans to ruin his government and certain powerful people are making efforts to destabilize his journey.

“They are plotting to destroy the economy of his State; so he should be filled with wisdom, and also utilize the wisdom of the religious advisers during this period.”

Speaking about Kanu and Sunday Igboho, he added, “Certain people from ECOWAS and the United Nations are inflaming these cases.

“If I the Lord passes through the countries wherever they are kept, I the Lord will reveal Myself to the Presidents of such countries and the lawyers; just like how I revealed Myself to Pontius Pilate through vision.

“I will reveal visions to the people that matter in those countries, and direct them to set both Nnamdi and Sunday free; because of the future.

“I have previously sent messages for people to pray for Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho, Sanusi Lamido and Tompolo; so that they will not be arrested and killed. Some people said that the prophet that delivered My messages is talking rubbish.”

Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho are currently in detention in Benin Republic and Nigeria respectively.

While Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Kenyan, bundled back to Nigeria and kept in the custody of the Department of State Services, Sunday Igboho was arrested in Benin Republic as he tried to escape Nigeria after he was declared wanted.

LASG To Start "No Inspection, No Roadworthiness Certificate" Policy By January

LASG TO KICK START "NO INSPECTION, NO CERTIFICATE OF ROADWORTHINESS" POLICY BY JANUARY

As part of the reforms in the transportation system, the Lagos State Government is set to commence the ‘No Inspection, No Certificate of Roadworthiness’ rule by January 2022 to improve safety on all roads across the metropolis.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, disclosed this at a meeting held recently at the Vehicle Inspection Service, (VIS) Headquarters, Ojodu, adding that the rule was made to curb and reduce to the barest minimum the accident rate which had spiked in recent times.

Oladeinde averred that the forum, which had in attendance transport unions and other stakeholders in the transport industry, was convened to collate and incorporate suggestions on the new policy before its commencement. He explained that the State Government is desirous of ensuring that only roadworthy vehicles ply the network of roads in Lagos to reduce gridlocks often caused by broken down vehicles, thereby improving the safety of lives and property.

Highlighting the features of the new policy, the Director, Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Engr. Akin-George Fashola explained that the earlier arrangement whereby Certificate of Roadworthiness is issued along with a Referral Note directing vehicle owners to visit the Lagos Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (LACVIS) for inspection will no longer hold.

He stated that it was discovered that vehicle owners do not take their cars for inspection within the stipulated period of 30days after receiving the Certificate of Roadworthiness, pointing out that such acts put the State in a precarious situation in terms of unforeseen eventualities.
According to Fashola, the new rule now will compel vehicle owners to go through inspection at any of the LACVIS centres on the expiration of vehicles particulars before a Certificate of Roadworthiness is issued.

"In the event that the vehicle did not pass the Minimum Safety Standard Text (MSST), a period of 30 days will be given for the vehicle to be fixed and thereafter return for a repetition of the MSST at no additional cost before the Certificate of Road Roadworthiness is issued", he explained.

The Director further stated that the LACVIS test has been categorised into both Public and Private, assuring that the 30 LACVIS centres located across the State are functional for all categories of vehicles and also have the capacity to accommodate the new policy, just as standard requirements will not be compromised.

While noting that mobile services are available for large fleet vehicle owners, Fashola reiterated that no vehicle will be certified roadworthy if the owners fail to present their vehicles for inspection to identify any faults for corrective measures. He said that VIS personnel will be deployed garages to help create awareness before the new policy kicks off.

The Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Olusegun Ogungbemide, urged transport workers and stakeholders to comply with the new directive, stressing that the measures are solely for the safety and protection of lives and that strict adherence will be beneficial to all and sundry.

A representative of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Taiwo Abiodun, called for more awareness on the new policy and safe road culture while soliciting humane treatment from traffic management personnel.

He assured that the Union will play its part in correcting deviant behaviour sometimes exhibited by recalcitrant members.
The meeting also afforded the gathering an opportunity to discuss safety strategies aimed at reducing fatalities during the yuletide period and beyond.

Lagos Judicial Panel Illegal, States Can't Probe Military, Police - Festus Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, minister of state for labour and employment, says the Lagos judicial panel on police brutality was “illegal and a waste of time”.

Keyamo made the comment on Sunday during an interview on Channels Television.

The minister said the Lagos state government, which set up the judicial panel, lacks the power to probe the conduct of police and military officers.

Keyamo said by the virtue of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), only the federal government can investigate the military and police

“I will not answer this question as a sitting minister, I will answer this question as senior advocate of Nigeria — a member of the inner bar — and so I’m entitled to my opinion. This is not the federal government opinion,” he said.

“For me, that panel was an illegal panel. It is totally illegal. All lawyers who are listening to me should go back and read to the Tribunal of Inquiry Act of Lagos state.

“It says that the governor will have power to inquire into the conduct of any person and chieftaincy matters and any matter that would promote the good of the public.

“However, any person there was defined in section 21 to mean public officers of the state. It is defined to mean somebody within the public service of the Lagos state or the local government as the case may be.

“However, if you look at section 21 again of the tribunal of inquiry law, it says that it has to be within the legislative competence of Lagos state.

“In other words, it is only a person over which whom the Lagos state has control that they can inquire into their conduct. If you don’t have control over me, you can’t inquire into my conduct.

“The policemen, the armed forces, the military are not officers of Lagos state. They are officers of the federal government.

“By virtue of the constitution, it is only the federal government that can control the conduct of policemen and the military. Lagos state cannot be in control, cannot legislate too regarding police matters and military matters.

“To inquire into the conduct of policemen and military, no state government can’t do that.”

Asked if the time spent on the judicial panels across the country is an exercise in futility, he responded in the affirmative.

In October 2020, the National Economic Council (NEC), under the leadership of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, established judicial panels in states, including the federal capital territory (FCT), to investigate cases of police brutality.

The decision was announced during the #EndSARS protests, when youths took to the streets in different parts of the country to call for the disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS).

Semi-automated offside technology explained ahead of FIFA Arab Cup

FIFA (www.FIFA.com) publishes tomorrow a documentation about the latest tests of semi-automated offside technology ; Pierluigi Collina and Johannes Holzmüller explain the advancement of the tests to date; Further tests at FIFA Arab Cup outlined at Leaders MEET in Doha.

FIFA Chief Refereeing Officer Pierluigi Collina has described how the latest tests of semi-automated offside technology at FIFA Arab Cup 2021 are “the most important trial so far”, as the systems were explained in the latest episode of FIFA’s Living Football magazine show.

One of the goals of the FIFA President’s Vision 2020-2023 is to harness technology in football to meet the needs of the modern game. Tests have been ongoing to optimise the technology and Living Football explains the benefits for match officials and clarified the way in which it will be implemented.

“Technology is very important and useful in both the pre-match preparation and the decision-making process during matches”, said Collina. “In an offside incident, the decision is made after having analysed not only the players’ position but also, their involvement in the move. Technology – today or tomorrow – can draw a line but the assessment of an interference with play or with an opponent remains in the referee’s hands.”

Football Technology & Innovation Director Johannes Holzmüller delved into the details of how the technology will function.

„We will have a camera set-up installed under the roof of each stadium“, Holzmüller confirmed. The limb tracking data extracted from the video will be sent to the operations rooms and the calculated offside line and detected kick-point is provided to the replay operator in almost real-time. „The replay operator then has the opportunity to show it immediately to the VAR.“ added Holzmüller. At the FIFA Arab Cup the Assistant VAR at a dedicated offside station can immediately validate and confirm the information.

Keyamo says Lagos judicial panel on Lekki shooting was illegal

The minister submits that the panel had no powers to investigate the conduct of the armed forces.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has described the Lagos judicial panel of inquiry into police brutality and the October 20, 2020 shooting of unarmed protesters at the Lekki tollgate, as an illegality.

He adds that the panel had no powers to investigate the military or police.

Asked during a ChannelsTV programme about what he makes of Information Minister Lai Mohammed's dismissal of the report of a Lagos panel whose set-up had the blessings of the federal government, Keyamo said:

“I will not answer this question as a sitting minister. I will answer this question as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria – a member of the Inner Bar, and so I am entitled to my opinion.

"This is not the federal government’s position. From me, that panel was an illegal panel. It was totally illegal.

“All lawyers who are listening to me should go back and read the Tribunals of Enquiry Act of Lagos State. It says that the governor will have the powers to inquire into the conduct of any person – underline any person – and chieftaincy matters and any other matter that will promote the good of the public.

“However, ‘any person’ there was defined in Section 21 to mean public officers of the state. It is defined to mean somebody within the public service of Lagos State or of the local government as the case may be.

“Then, the phrase was used at the end of Section 1 that says ‘any matter’…that they can inquire into any matter. People now think that to inquire into any matter, it means that you can just be at large.

“However, if you look at Section 21 again, it says that it has to be within the legislative competence of Lagos State. In other words, it is only people over whom the Lagos State has control that they can inquire into their conduct. If you don’t have control over me, you cannot inquire into my conduct.

“Policemen, the Armed Forces, military; they are not under or officers of Lagos State, they are officers of the federal government.

"By virtue of the Constitution, it is only the federal government that can control the conduct of policemen and the military. Lagos State cannot be in control; they cannot legislate too, regarding police and military matters; they are on the Exclusive Legislative List.”

Judicial panels of inquiry were set up across the states at the behest of the federal government, in the wake of the October 2020 protests against police brutality.

On November 15, 2021, the panel submitted its report to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and described what transpired on the night of October 20, 2020 as a "massacre in context."

5 things we learnt from Matchday 13 fixtures in the Premier League

Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa secured victories on Matchday 13. These are the five things we learnt

Action from Matchweek 13 of the English Premier League dominated this weekend as Steven Gerrard secured a second consecutive victory 3 in his new job at Aston Villa. Liverpool ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Southampton while Manchester United picked up an impressive draw away at Chelsea in the blockbuster fixture of the weekend.

Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool remain huddled at the top justifying their hype as early season contenders for the title. Newcastle United, Norwich City and Burnley also remain rooted to the bottom of the table as the famous hectic December beckons with midweek matches making a return as from Matchweek 14. Here are five things we learnt from the Matchweek 13 fixtures in the English Premier League.

Emmanuel Dennis is shining in the Premier League

Despite his Watford side going down to Leicester City 4-2 at the King Power Stadium, Nigerian star Emmanuel Dennis shone like a million stars. He was at the centre of every attacking move by the hornets, building on his impressive against Manchester United last week in a difficult match against another Top 4 hopeful.

Emmanuel Dennis is only the sixth player in Premier League history to register five goals and five assists in his first 12 matches.
Emmanuel Dennis is only the sixth player in Premier League history to register five goals and five assists in his first 12 matches.

The former Club Brugge forward had a hand in both goals scored by Claudio Ranieri's side, winning the first-half penalty that Joshua King converted. He then grabbed one goal for himself, briefly putting the Hornets within striking distance when he made it 3-2 in the 61st minute.

The 24-year-old now has five goals and five assists in his first 12 matches in the EPL, a record feat for the Nigerian man. When Ranieri hooked him in the 71st minute, it was a testament to his importance to the team as the Italian sought to bubble-wrap his prized asset ahead of other fixtures with the Leicester game well and truly over at 4-2 at that point.

Liverpool's Premier League hopes rest on Diogo Jota

Portuguese star Diogo Jota continued his imperious form with another two goals at Anfield Stadium when Southampton came calling. The 24-year-old continues to perform in the absence of Roberto Firmino, showing just how unfair it is that the Brazilian gets into the team ahead of him when he is fit.

However, Jota is set to get an extended run in the side due to the impending departure of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for the African Cup of Nations in January. This is perhaps when his real worth to the Merseyside club would be realised.

Roberto Firmino would be just back in the squad and gaining match fitness when January rolls around but Jota has proven that he is an able deputy anywhere across the front three. More importantly, his unerring finishing abilities will be very important due to Firmino's rather low scoring stats.

Jurgen Klopp has to replace Salah's and Mane's goals if he's to stay in contention for the league till February when they return and those hopes rest squarely on Jota's shoulders.

Aston Villa will prop up Steven Gerrard for Liverpool upgrade

The iconic midfielder secured consecutive victories in his first two matches as manager of Aston Villa. Four goals scored, none conceded, whilst showing a mastery of both the attacking and defensive phases; music to Villa fans but more so to the Liverpool faithful.

Without understating Gerrard's abilities, the Aston Villa job is one of the better jobs outside of the Top 6 and it is set up to make him succeed. Villa were never bad, a run of five defeats under Dean Smith was an anomaly, the perfect storm to disguise the club's desire to bring in a more charismatic figure in Gerrard.

A worst-case-best-case scenario at Villa Park still favours Gerrard. At the worst, the quality of the players at his disposal guarantees a genuine push for the European spots, hence a Top 10 finish which still looks good on him. A best-case scenario would present itself if the Kop legend can get his side to overperform - a distinct possibility if he signs a few more quality players.

A Top 6 finish and a deep run in a familiar Europa League within the next three seasons would prop up Gerrard's image and reputation and almost guarantee that he would be sitting in the Liverpool hot seat the moment it is vacant.

It will not be Manchester City's season

Pep Guardiola's side have won three of the last four Premier League titles but on the evidence of the first 13 matches this season, they would not be lifting a fourth. Whilst they sit second on the log, their displays have not shown they have what it takes to outlast Chelsea or Liverpool in the race for the top spot.

Much of this is down to the lack of a proven goalscorer and more sterile performances where they have most of the ball but cannot finish off the chances. Fernandinho's 90th-minute finish proved the matchwinner for Guardiola's side in a 2-1 victory on Sunday, a match that would have ended in a draw if the Brazilian had not scored shortly after coming on and Manuel Lanzini had still gone on to score his goal at the death.

The little margins of victory, the fine line between three points and one, the ability to convert gilt-edged chances into goals; these are the qualities Chelsea and Liverpool possess this season and where Manchester City will falter in the race to win another Championship.

Manchester United are on their way to redemption

Michael Carrick presumably took charge of his last match as United interim manager on Sunday and his swan song was full of positive chords for the Red Devils. If there was anything obvious from a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, it was that United are yet still redeemable.

Manchester United kept Chelsea at bay in a tense 1-1 draw
Manchester United kept Chelsea at bay in a tense 1-1 draw

Their spirited - albeit limited - performance against Chelsea was in stark contrast to the disjointed showings against Liverpool, Manchester City and Watford. It is also the perfect reference point for Ralf Rangnick to build on when he finally takes charge at the Theatre of Dreams.

United showed they can fulfil one part of the requirement - keep a solid structure and defend in numbers. They now need to learn to not sacrifice their attack whilst still maintaining a solid defence. This would be Rangnick's brief. Considering the attacking talent that the squad possesses and the expertise of the German tactician, this should not be a tall order. United might be down but they are not out.

Watford fans unhappy with Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong

The Super Eagles defender was at fault for two goals against Leicester City.

Super Eagles of Nigeria defender suffered heavy criticism after Watford lost 4-2 away to Leicester City in a Premier League fixture played at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, November 28, 2021.

After a convincing 4-1 win against Manchester United last week, Watford could not produce a similar performance as they were taken apart by Leicester City.

Speaking after the match Watford captain Moussa Sissoko explained that Ekong made a mistake.

He said, “I think we started well, but we conceded the first goal and we are disappointed because [William] Troost-Ekong thought someone told him to leave the ball to clear it.”

The criticism on social media was intense as some Watford fans suggested that Ekong should no longer play for the club.

Watford boss Claudio Ranieri also stated at the post-match press conference that Ekong was at fault.

He said, "The first goal he was assured that there wasn't anybody behind him, William and the fourth goal Mazzina was tackled, he was down and they continued to play.

"That is normal because until the referee whistles you have to continue to play. Of course, that part of the box there wasn't any of my player".

Watford continues their Premier League campaign at Vicarage Road when they welcome league leaders Chelsea on Wednesday, December 1st.
